Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how UZWay (“we”, “us”) handles personal data in People UZWay — the website people.uzway.com and the People UZWay Android app. It is written to meet Google Play User Data and Data safety rules. Effective 22 August 2026.

1. Who the service is for

People UZWay is for people 18 years or older. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we delete it.

2. Data we collect

Account data

  • name, email address, hashed password;
  • if you sign in with Google: Google account ID, name, and email you authorize;
  • optional phone, username, and verification details you submit (phone, company, identity documents).

Public profile

  • avatar and cover photo, profession, skills, bio, city, languages, rate, availability, social links, trips, and portfolio.

Content you create

  • posts, articles, comments, polls, photos, group files, events, groups, chat messages, likes, saves, and reports.

Location

  • precise latitude and longitude if you turn on nearby people, show yourself on the map, or drop a pin on your profile map;
  • the city you type on your profile;
  • on the website, a coarse city hint from IP — not ongoing tracking.

Location is optional. You can refuse the Android permission and turn off map visibility in Safety and privacy settings. We do not request background location.

Messages

Direct message text and attachments are stored so you and the other person can read the conversation. We access message content only for abuse reports, safety investigations, or legal process.

Photos and videos

The Android app uses the system file picker. We do not read your whole gallery. Only images you choose (avatar, cover, post, or chat photo) are uploaded to our servers.

Device and notifications

  • Firebase Cloud Messaging token for push notifications;
  • app language you select;
  • session tokens and sign-in logs needed to keep you signed in.

App performance

Android crashes may be sent to Firebase Crashlytics (Google): device type, OS version, and stack trace, so we can fix bugs.

Analytics

We store first-party events on our servers (for example profile views) to run discovery and safety. The Android app does not include third-party advertising SDKs.

3. Why we use data

  • create and operate your account, profile, and sign-in;
  • show feed, people search, groups, events, and nearby results;
  • deliver messages and notifications;
  • moderation, blocking, reports, anti-spam, and security;
  • on-device post translation (ML Kit) if you enable auto-translate;
  • support requests and legal compliance.

These purposes map to Google Play Data safety categories: App functionality, Account management, Communications, Fraud prevention / security / compliance, and Analytics.

4. How we share data

We do not sell personal data. We share only as follows:

  • Other users — content you make public (profile, posts, public groups and events);
  • Google — Google Sign-In, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Firebase Crashlytics;
  • PayPal — only if you buy a plan on people.uzway.com (the Android app does not sell digital goods today);
  • Infrastructure processors that host the service under our instructions;
  • Authorities when the law requires it.

Public pages may be indexed by search engines.

5. Retention and security

  • data in transit uses HTTPS;
  • passwords are hashed, never stored in plain text;
  • app tokens expire;
  • website session cookies are HttpOnly.

We keep account data while the account is active. After deletion we remove your profile, posts, messages, and uploads. We may keep a limited record for a short period where needed for security, fraud prevention, or law (for example that an account was banned).

6. Your choices

  • edit your profile in the app or on the website;
  • control who can see you, message you, add you, and find you on the map in Safety and privacy settings;
  • request a copy of your data by emailing people@uzway.com;
  • delete your account in the app (More → Settings → Delete account) or on people.uzway.com/delete-account.

Deletion removes the account and associated personal data. It is not a freeze. Some public quotes of your posts by other people may remain until they are removed separately.

7. Android permissions

  • Internet / network state — required to load the service;
  • Approximate and precise location — optional, used only to sort people nearby and save a map pin you choose;
  • Notifications — optional, for messages, follows, and comments.

8. Children

This service is not directed at children. See Child Safety Standards.

9. International users

Servers may be located outside your country. By using People UZWay you understand your data may be processed in the United States and in countries where our processors (including Google) operate.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top is the latest version. Material changes will appear on this page and, if required, in the app.
